Edition: First and early printings (publisher’s Stanyan issue), complete 5-volume set

Format (collector size): Hardcover, Octavo (8vo), each with original dust jacket; Brodart archival covers added

Included titles:

  • Pastorale (1971)
  • New Ballads (1970)
  • Caught in the Quiet (1970)
  • The Carols of Christmas (1970, later printing)

Condition: Fine to Near Fine set — clean, tight copies in bright jackets protected by Brodart. Light shelf-touch only; several volumes bear neat personal gift inscriptions (adding period charm). No remainder marks.

Why it’s collectible: A cohesive Stanyan Books grouping from McKuen’s peak years, preserving the original jacket design language (Hy Fujita, et al.) and cross-over appeal between poetry and popular music culture. Complete sets in uniformly sharp condition are uncommon and display beautifully.
