Our Grading and Conservaton Standards

At Deb's Book Paradise, every vintage and collectible book is individually examined, conservatively graded, and described with care. Our goal is simple: when your book arrives, it should meet—or exceed—your expectations.

Because many of our books are 40, 50, or even 100 years old, normal signs of age such as page toning, light shelf wear, or minor edge wear are expected and are always noted when significant.

Whenever possible, books are graded using standard antiquarian bookselling terminology, including Fine, Near Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, and Poor. We intentionally grade conservatively, believing it is better for a book to exceed expectations than disappoint a collector.

Conservation

Occasionally, older paperbacks develop detached covers or weakened hinges. When appropriate, these may be carefully stabilized using archival-quality conservation materials designed to help preserve the book and prevent further deterioration.

We believe preservation should never be hidden.

If a book has received conservation treatment:

• The work will always be clearly described in the condition statement.
• Photographs of the repaired area will be included whenever practical.
• No attempt is made to disguise repairs or alter the book's originality.

Our philosophy is one of honesty, transparency, and stewardship. We view ourselves not only as booksellers, but as caretakers of these volumes until they find their next home.

Every collectible book is shipped in a new archival-quality removable protective sleeve whenever appropriate to help preserve its condition during storage and transit.
