In Undying Glory, historian Clinton Cox recounts the formation of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment and follows its soldiers from recruitment and training through their courageous service between 1863 and 1865. The regiment demonstrated extraordinary bravery while confronting not only Confederate forces but also discrimination over military pay, assignments, and recognition.
