Description:
Sweethearts on Parade is a popular song from the late 1920s with music by Carmen Lombardo and lyrics by Charles Newman. Lombardo, leader of the Royal Canadians, was one of the most influential figures in American popular music during the interwar period, known for melodic songs that bridged dance music and early popular song.
The illustrated cover captures the romantic urban atmosphere of the era, combining Art Deco–influenced design with narrative imagery characteristic of late-1920s sheet music. The silhouetted bandleader figure and city backdrop reflect the growing prominence of radio orchestras and public dance music in American social life.
The back cover promotes other “Worth-While Songs,” listing titles available on records, player rolls, and sheet music, and provides insight into the interconnected music markets of the time. This is an original period printing, not a reproduction, and survives as a representative example of late-1920s popular music publishing and design.
