Description

Each December, Tolkien’s children received news from the North Pole in letters written and illustrated by their father. What began as a private family tradition grew into a wonderfully elaborate world of Father Christmas, an accident-prone Polar Bear, helpful elves, escaped reindeer, and troublesome goblins.

Letters from Father Christmas brings together these imaginative messages and Tolkien’s accompanying artwork. His distinctive handwriting, snowy landscapes, and comic mishaps reveal the playful, affectionate storyteller behind The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

This revised edition includes letters and pictures omitted from earlier editions. Its colorful illustrations and red-and-gold cover make it an inviting book to bring out each Christmas, read aloud, or give to a Tolkien enthusiast.
